Walk in the backstreets of Hora
Visit Chora and observe its special architecture. It is located in the western part of the island, built amphitheatrically on the hill. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful settlements in the Aegean. In the central square of Chora there are 8 traditional windmills. Most have recently been repaired or maintained. They are cylindrical in shape and their roofs turn according to the direction of the wind. Five of them are in very good condition and they are still in use today. One is used as an information office. Another one is used for various exhibitions and events organized during the festival of Astypalea.
